We’re doing something a little bit different today! Nikki and I were so incredibly besotted with the new Hightide Tiny Containers that we decided to dedicate an entire blog to them! Made of bright coloured tin in a choice of red, blue and green, the Tiny Container features a charming miniature tool box design and is ideal for organising small items.

“I love it, but what would I use it for?” I hear you ask! Well, wonder no more, as we dive in to 13+ things to store in your Tiny Container…

1. Small Stationery Items

Let’s keep things on-brand and start with the stationery items, shall we? I have a bunch of tiny stationery items that I’m forever rummaging for in my desk drawers such as my mini stapler, spare staples, pencil leads and pencil erasers, and this would be a great way to keep them tidy and locatable! Tiny Containers are also a super handy size for individual die-cut stickers or page markers.

2. Erasers

As pictured in the product listing, Tiny Containers are a great size for storing your collection of erasers and keeping them lovely and clean. They always get a bit grubby in a pencil case, don’t they?

3. Kaweco Sport Fountain Pen & Ink Cartridges

This is actually what I had in mind as I waited for my Tiny Container to arrive, and I couldn’t have been more thrilled to see how well both the ink cartridge boxes and the Kaweco Sport pens fitted!

4. Washi Tape 

Four rolls of washi tape fit very pleasingly, and this would be a cute way to take a small selection of tape away on holiday with you.

5. Sewing Kit

This has been a customer favourite already! The blue Tiny Container is almost certainly a descendent of the Danish Butter Cookie tin and is just the right size for keeping a few handy sewing supplies in your desk drawer, locker or bag to repair wardrobe malfunctions. I also added a magnetic needle minder to the underside of the lid to hold some pins.

6. English Paper Piecing Supplies

This is sort of an extension of the last idea, but I couldn’t resist showing how pleasingly my English Paper Piecing (EPP) hexagons fitted, with room to spare for a glue stick.

7. First Aid Kit

If there’s one thing that goes hand in hand with sewing, it’s injury! What, just me? The Tiny Container also makes an adorable mini first aid kit and I managed to fit a tube of antiseptic, plasters, painkillers and a pair of tweezers in there as I’m always getting splinters. Along the same idea, you could also make a tiny survival kit with matches, a compass, string and even a mini Swiss Army knife.

8. Rubber Stamps

Tiny Containers have a surprisingly hefty depth of 3.5cm, which is the perfect height for storing rubber stamps. You could even find a mini ink pad to keep in there too for stamping on the go!

9. Dice

One for the board gamers and role players! You can fit a surprising amount in here, and I think we can all agree that my pink glittery dice were made for this red Tiny Container?

10. Hair Accessories

Does anyone else have a cat who MUST ATTACK any small item left on a dressing table? Keep hairbands, grips and hair clips safely tucked away and free from prying paws!

11. Business Cards, Loyalty Cards & Store Cards

Please tell me I’m not the only one with a little stack of indie biz business cards, discount codes and loyalty cards? A Tiny Container would also be ideal for gathering bits and pieces for a travel journal such as tickets, stickers, receipts and business cards. I hate having a bunch of cards I rarely use in my purse so I have things like my IKEA card and loyalty cards for online shops chucked in a drawer, meaning I hardly ever remember to use them! I’m foreseeing a future where every drawer contains at least 3 Tiny Containers. I guess I’ll need to get the label maker out…

12. Treasures

As a child, I loved collecting and organising my various “treasures” and I never really grew out of it! I try to keep my collection a little more streamlined these days, and I can’t wait to select a few extra special items to store in my Tiny Container.

13. Tiny Bed for a Tiny Friend

...and on a similar “nurturing my inner child” note: Who could resist making a tiny bed for a tiny friend? Unfortunately, I don’t have a little blanket for my little felt bear, but I’m very tempted to make him one. Perhaps using a mini biscuit cushion kits from Nikki’s other shop?
